Thorough & Precise
I am happy to offer you all typical servicing work on modern and historically set-up instruments of the violin family and double basses. This work ensures the functionality and preservation of value of your instrument. This includes, for instance:
- Measuring and/or inspecting of primary setup dimensions.
- Inspecting for and securing of open cracks and edge seams.
- Reconditioning/shooting a worn fingerboard and reshaping the nut and its notches to improve playability.
- Inspecting and redressing of pegs.
- Servicing work on the bridge: filling of string notches, repairing bends, etc.
- Replacing of worn or damaged soundposts and bridges.
- Professional cleaning of varnished surfaces.

I am also happy to carry out servicing work and simple repairs on your bows:
- Replacing a worn thumb leather.
- Renewing a winding.
- Maintaining or replacing a bow screw and nut.
- Replacing a damaged head plate.
- Rehairing, including cleaning the stick and all parts.
For rehairing, I only use hair of the highest quality from a supplier that has been reliable for years.

If your instrument or bow are in a non-playing condition and you are thinking about having it fixed, I will be happy to make a non-binding initial assessment.
Please feel free to contact me for further questions or for making an appointment.
